High potential and gifted education

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.

At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?

Recognising potential and developing talent

Our teachers find potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.

Tailored lessons

Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.

Rich opportunities and activities

Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the arts, sport, leadership and more.

Opening doors to wider experiences

Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.

What is high potential and gifted education?

High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities

Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

In our classroom

At Trangie Central School, High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) is an integral part of our everyday practice. We are committed to recognising, extending and nurturing the strengths of high potential and gifted learners, ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Our supportive and inclusive classrooms foster a strong sense of belonging, where students are encouraged to take risks, think creatively and collaborate with confidence. Flexible groupings allow students to work with peers in a variety of ways - building teamwork, communication and presentation skills.

Learning experiences are designed to offer choice, authenticity and challenge. Students engage in tasks that promote critical and creative thinking, encouraging them to explore their interests, extend their abilities and realise their potential.

Across our school and the community beyond

At Trangie Central School we further support students in developing strong communication and critical thinking skills through our Public Speaking, School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBAT), Well-Being Programs, Community and Culture Partnerships, Creative Arts Programs, Connections into Academic Networks and Programs. These opportunities encourage students to articulate ideas with confidence, engage in thoughtful discussion and strengthen their analytical abilities.

Our students also have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of academic competitions, providing meaningful challenge and extending their intellectual growth across diverse subject areas.

At Trangie Central School, we are committed to offering a rich and varied HPGE experience that empowers high potential and gifted learners to flourish in all areas of their development - both within our school community and beyond.
